About Merit Mastery
Merit Mastery is a practice game. You answer short questions, clear levels, and keep a record of what you have mastered. People use it at school and at home, in any country.
How a session works
Each level has ten questions. A perfect round opens the next level. A miss keeps you on the same one, with a new set of questions. Worlds run from everyday ideas through to a mastery set. Labels such as the New Zealand Curriculum, NCEA, IB, and Cambridge are a guide to the topic. They are not an award from those organisations.
You can sign in with email, Google, or Microsoft. A school code and a class code connect you with classmates. You choose whether a teacher can see missed skills.

These terms apply from 26 September 2026, everywhere Merit Mastery is used, including meritmastery.com.
Content and answers may not be correct
Questions, options, marked answers, explanations, diagrams, hints, scores, and level titles can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Do not treat a green result, a coin total, or a curriculum label as proof that an idea is true or that an exam answer would score. Check anything important with a teacher, a textbook, or another source you trust.
The service
Merit Mastery is a learning game. It is not a school, a qualification, or professional advice of any kind, including medical, legal, financial, or safety advice. Nothing on the site is an official paper from the New Zealand Curriculum, NCEA, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, or any other exam board.
Who can join
The site is open worldwide. A school may ask its students to use it. If you are under the age your country sets for agreeing to terms on your own, a parent or guardian should review these terms with you. You are responsible for the activity on your account.
Accounts and sign-in
Email sign-in uses the password you choose. Google and Microsoft sign-in use those companies’ accounts and their own terms. Keep your sign-in private. Tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
Schools, classes, and progress
A school code and a class code are optional. Classmates in the same class can battle. A teacher sees your missed skills only if you leave that sharing switched on. Scores, XP, and coins are part of the game. They are not an official grade, report, or transcript.
Your information
The account stores your name, email, school and class if you join one, level progress, and the skills you miss. That information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including where the site’s hosting runs. It is used to run the game, show a teacher what you chose to share, and keep the service secure. It is not sold.
Acceptable use
Do not break the service, attempt to enter another person’s account, harass anyone, or upload anything unlawful. Do not copy the question banks to build a competing product. Automated play that is not a normal visit is not allowed.
Changes and availability
Questions, levels, and these terms can change. The site can be paused or closed. If you keep using Merit Mastery after the terms change, the new terms apply. Consumer rights that the law of your country does not allow a contract to remove still apply.
Responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Merit Mastery is not liable for loss or disappointment that comes from relying on a question, an answer, a score, or the site being unavailable. This does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
